All-day abs: easy ways to add core exercises throughout your day

Let’s face it, our abs aren’t always top of mind. Between work, family, and the siren’s call of Domino’s, core exercises can easily get pushed to the back burner. But here’s something we don’t talk about often enough: a strong core isn’t just about washboard abs (although we’ll never say no to those!). It’s the foundation for good posture, back pain prevention, and even better athletic performance.

You don’t need to spend all your time at the gym to strengthen your core. In fact, it’s surprisingly simple to add easy core exercises into your daily routine! Keep reading to discover how you can get a strong, stable core with minimal change to your routine!

All-day abs: easy ways to add core exercises throughout your day

The morning mission

Rise and shine (with a twist)

Ditch the boring sit-up. Instead, roll out of bed in a plank position. Hold for 10 seconds, then slowly lower yourself down. This exercise wakes up your core and gets your blood pumping – all before you even grab your coffee!

Brush up on strength

Multitasking is a modern-day superpower, so why not combine brushing your teeth with some core work? Stand on one leg while you brush, then switch sides. This simple move engages your obliques and ensures you spend enough time brushing your pearly whites.

The workplace warrior

The chair core challenge

Your office chair can be your secret weapon. Sit tall with your feet flat on the floor. Lean back slightly, then engage your core to pull yourself upright again. Repeat 10 times. This isometric exercise strengthens your core without needing fancy equipment.

The post-lunch plank

If lunch leaves you feeling a little sluggish, combat the afternoon slump with a quick desk plank. Prop yourself up on your forearms on your desk, extending your body in a straight line from head to heels. Hold for 30 seconds, then take a breather. Repeat a few times throughout the afternoon for a sneaky energy boost.

The Evening Encore

Upgrade your TV time

While a couch potato moment is good every now and then, we love combining our favorite shows with some squats or lunges. These exercises work your legs and engage your core to keep you balanced. Bonus points for adding arm raises for an extra challenge.

The Dishwashing Detour

Turn those dirty dishes into a core workout. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and twist your torso from side to side as you scrub those pots. This exercise works your obliques and makes those dishes feel a little less like a chore. (You can also use this method as you wash your hands throughout the day.)

Remember: Consistency is key! Even short bursts of core work throughout the day can make a big difference.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. All movement is good movement, and these small changes can make a huge difference!
